West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee arrived at the residence of I-PAC director as searches were on there and took away documents and a laptop

The West Bengal government filed a caveat in the Supreme Court over the weekend, seeking a hearing before any interim orders are passed

ED said its searches were linked to an investigation of an illegal coal mining racket in the state 

The Calcutta High Court dismissed TMC's petition against the ED, which claimed no evidence was seized during a controversial search linked to Mamata Banerjee.

The high court is expected to hear the writ petition of the federal agency on Friday.

ED has claimed that proceeds of crime worth ₹20 crore generated by purported irregularities in coal mining in West Bengal were transferred through hawala channels to I-PAC

ED has filed a writ petition before the Supreme Court, alleging that its investigation was deliberately obstructed by the state machinery and Mamata Banerjee.

ED told the Supreme Court that Mamata Banerjee's actions reflect “a very shocking pattern emerging”. 

Holding placards and raising slogans, the MPs accused the Centre of misusing central agencies to target opposition parties ahead of elections.

The matter is now pending with the Supreme Court, which will hear the ED's plea against the Bengal government on Thursday.
